As a research participant, you might be wondering whether you have an option of choosing the type of incentive you receive for participating in a study. While the types of incentives offered can vary depending on the study and the company conducting it, we understand the importance of flexibility and choice in this regard.

In many cases, the company or researcher conducting the study will determine the type of incentive offered. This information is typically communicated to you upfront in the study invitation. When you receive an invitation to participate in a study, be sure to review the incentive details provided.

We strive to offer a range of incentive options to accommodate your preferences. For studies where the incentive is distributed by OpenQ, you will often have several options to choose from, including:

  • Prepaid cards – Physical or virtual Visa cards in the U.S., and virtual visa elsewhere globally
  • Gift cards – In 700+ retailers worldwide,
  • Cash – ACH transfers to any US bank or credit union, Paypal accounts in 80+ countries / regionsm or Venmo wallet transfer, and
  • Charitable donations – donate your incentive to top charitable organizations worldwide, e.g., the American Red Cross, Alzheimer's Association, Doctors without Borders.

When you complete a study and become eligible to receive an incentive, you will receive an email with instructions on how to redeem your reward. At this point, you may have the opportunity to select your preferred incentive option from the available choices. Please note that not all options may be available for every study, and some researchers or companies may have specific restrictions on the types of incentives they offer.

In summary, while the choice of incentives is often determined by the company or researcher conducting the study, we aim to provide flexibility and choice wherever possible. To ensure you understand the types of incentives offered for a specific study, always review the incentive details provided in the invitation or other communications related to the study.
